MARK W. WRIGHT, a veteran award-winning sports writer and editor, has been a journalist for over 15 years having worked for a wide and diverse array of titles. Among them are OverTime (OT) Magazine, ESPN The Magazine, The Source Sports, SPORT—plus other consumer magazines ranging from business to entertainment.
Born in England and raised in Jamaica, Wright also served as a consultant on various prototype magazines, namely S.O.C.A., a lifestyle publication for Caribbean Americans; ON! TV for Guys, a magazine by the publishers of TV Guide; and GAMETIME, a California-based sports title, which he co-produced.
Since relocating from Washington, D.C. to New York in the late ’90s to work for Black Enterprise magazine—which Wright credits for giving a platform to cover professional athletes on a national stage—Wright covered the NBA at ESPN and was a senior editor at The Source Sports, the now-defunct hip-hop sports title. A soccer enthusiast himself, Wright later became editor-in-chief of Scholastic’s Soccer Jr. magazine—overseeing editorial operations from top to bottom.
A proud Howard University alum, Wright holds a B.A. in print journalism. He is also quite proud of his other titles: husband and father.
